“What do you mean, he’s your brother?” Frank stood hands on hips in the conference room where they’d all gathered, a scowl darkening his face.

“Half brother to be exact. But we were brought up as brothers.”

“So while you’re half vampire, half angel, he’s all angel? Your mom and another angel?” Kyan tried to get it clear in his head.

“That’s right. He’s my older brother.”

“And you didn’t remember him until now?”

“The memory had been conveniently blocked,” Zak confirmed.

“Why?” Cole asked.

“Because Ronan has been trying to get rid of me for millennia. Only he keeps failing. If I knew it was him behind everything then I might have decided to do something about it, and he can’t have that.”

“But how? I don’t understand.”

“When my mom and dad got together, Ronan was a few years old. His dad, an angel, had disappeared, no-one knew what had become of him. Then I came along and as we grew into adults mom started to get a sense that something was off with Ronan, that he had an evil streak, but he kept it very well hidden. She began to fear for humanity, for Ronan often spoke of ruling Earth, that those who stood against him would disappear as his father had done. She knew he had to be stopped, but she couldn’t bring herself to kill her own child. She loved him, despite his evil nature. She and my dad decided to create the ring and dagger as weapons that could be used against him, but she knew she had to keep the balance, between darkness and light. Hence the ring can give life, the dagger takes it away.

“I was with mom and dad when they were created, they explained it all to me, but then Ronan caught us and was furious he’d been excluded from our plans, that we were plotting against him. He went into a rage, killing mom and dad, trying to kill me, but mom had slipped the ring onto my finger as she lay dying and somehow, I survived. Ronan was banished from Heaven.”

“So…were you an angel? To begin with? Were you in Heaven too?” Georgia whispered.

“No, but I could visit. I mostly lived on Earth with my dad, mom could come and go as she pleased. We were in Heaven the day the ring and dagger were created. I woke up on Earth, with no memory of my parents, the ring, the dagger, or Ronan.”

“Any clue as to why he’s doing all this?”

“Since he has no footing in Heaven, he wants to create Heaven on Earth. Get rid of the humans, populate it with angels, with Nephilim and demons to do his bidding. Become a God.”

“What the hell?” Frank muttered.

“Ronan was banished from Heaven. He’s never forgiven them for it.”

“And he’s waited all this time?”

“He couldn’t find me. Couldn’t find the ring, or the dagger. My parents must’ve put some sort of protection spell over me to keep me hidden. Protecting me even as they died. But of course, once the ring activated, I was visible.
